In nouns that end in f or fe, are changed to ves to form their plural.
For example:
wolf—wolves, wife—wives, Exception

In nouns that end in a consonant before the final y, the y is replaced
with ies to form their plural.
For example, city—cities, penny—pennies.
In nouns that end in a vowel before the final y, only an s is added to form
their plural.
For example, day—days, key—keys.
