11 Simple Past Tense
Warm-up
Underline the verbs that show what Karan did yesterday.
Yesterday, I visited my grandparents.
I carried some cakes and muffins for them.
They loved the sweet muffins and cakes.
Grandmother prepared burgers. After having
the burgers, I cleaned up the table. I thanked
Grandma and Grandpa for the lovely burgers.
I stayed there till 8 p.m. Just then Father
arrived. I waved goodbye to my grandparents.
We add ed to verbs to show that actions happened in the past.
Verbs ending in ed tell us that an action has already happened.
These verbs are said to be in the simple past tense.
A. Fill in the blanks with the simple past form of the verbs given in
the brackets.
1. I (help) my mother clean the house.
2. I (polish) my shoes in the morning.
3. We (wash) the car last Sunday.
