Let us learn more about them.
1. Personal pronouns: They refer to a specific person, object or group of things.
I, we, her, them, us, it and she are personal pronouns.
There are three kinds of personal pronouns.
• first person (the person who is speaking): I, we, me, us
• second person (the person being spoken to): you
• third person (the person being spoken about): he, she, it, they, him, her, them
A personal pronoun can be used as a subject or as an object in a sentence. Study this
table to understand the use of personal pronouns.

2. Demonstrative pronouns: They help to point at something or someone.
For example,
• This is my pen.
• That is a lost umbrella.
• These are your books.
• Those are students of this school.
We use
♦ this to point at a person or a thing that is near us.
♦ that to point at a person or a thing that is far from us.
♦ these to point at people or things that are near us.
♦ those to point at people or things that are far from us.
3. Possessive pronouns: They show ownership to someone or something.
For example,
• This pen is mine. That one is yours.
• This bike is hers. This one is his.
