                  The past tenses are classified as the simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous
                  tenses. Let us learn about them.


                  Simple Past Tense


                  Uses

                  We use the simple past tense to talk about

                  1.  finished actions and events which were completed at a specific time in the past.
                     For example,

                     y   They sang at the concert yesterday.
                     y   I went to the cinema on Sunday.
                  2.  for finished actions and situations that happened very long ago but are connected
                     to the present with a specified time reference. For example,

                     y   Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa.
