3. Adverb Clause
An adverb clause is a subordinate clause which does the same job as an adverb or
an adverb phrase in a sentence. It generally modifies a verb.
They are very much like adverbs, and tell the reader where, when, why or
how, someone did something. Adverb clauses are introduced by subordinating
conjunctions. For example,
• She (had) left before I arrived.
