                           Let’s study grammar

Read the sentences from the text.

€ ‘My story is quite similar to Ms English’s,’
€ ‘I especially envy my brother who belongs to Sushmita.’

€ ‘She fills in her maps with a pencil!’

These sentences are in the simple present tense. The simple present tense is used
for expressing habits, routines and general truths. It is also used for timetables and
                  giving directions and instruction.

                 Now, read these sentences.

€ ‘This has got to stop immediately,’ Justice Mathematics said in a stern voice.

€ ‘You have to undo what you have done.’

€ ‘He always looks as if he has stepped out of the bookseller’s shop.’

These sentences are in the present perfect tense. The present perfect tense is used
to talk about repeated actions, actions where the time is not important, actions that
began in the past and continue in the present, and for actions that were completed
                  in the recent past.

Change these simple present tense sentences into the present perfect tense. Make
             other changes as necessary.

             1. I water the plants every day.

I have just watered the plants.

             2. I write a letter to my grandparents every week.

             3. She cleans her cupboard every Sunday.

             4. My grandfather goes for a walk every morning.
