14 Joining Words
Read these sets of sentences.
• The sky cleared. The sun came up.
The sky cleared and the sun came up.
• I went to the zoo. I saw a giraffe.
I went to the zoo and saw a giraffe.
We use and to join two sentences that have the same idea. We call it
a joining word.
A. Join each pair of sentences using and.
1. Manu went to school. Mili went to school.
Manu and Mili went to school.
2. I love my mother. I love my father too.
3. I go to school to study. I go to school to play too.
