The highlighted adjectives tell us the exact number of nouns or the exact position of the
nouns being talked about.
Adjectives that tell us the exact number of nouns or their position in a series are
called adjectives of number.
B. Read this conversation. Circle the adjectives of number and underline the
adjectives of quantity.
Ms Jones: Could you give me a dozen pastries and some sandwiches, please?
Mr Gupta: Sure, Ma’am! How many sandwiches should I give you?
Ms Jones: Six cheese and four vegetable sandwiches, please! Do you have any
cheese puffs?
Mr Gupta: Yes, we have cheese puffs. Have you invited all your friends over,
Ma’am?
Ms Jones (laughing): A few of my friends from office are coming over. If all of them
were coming, I would have to buy your whole stock!
