Read these sentences.

                         y We should speak politely. (modifying the verb ‘speak’)

                         y The race finished quickly. (modifying the verb ‘finish’)

                         y She came in happily. (modifying the verb ‘come’)


              The highlighted adverbs tell us how the action happens.



                         Adverbs that tell us the manner of an action are called adverbs of manner.




              Most adverbs of manner are formed by adding ly or ily to adjectives. For example,
              bright—brightly, nice—nicely, silent—silently, angry—angrily.

              A.   Form the adverb with the highlighted adjective in the first sentence and use it to
                   complete the second sentence.


                   1.  Meera has beautiful handwriting.

                       Meera writes beautifully.

                   2.  Speak in a loud voice so that the boys at the back can hear you.
