Ø A preposition is a word that shows the relation between a noun or a pronoun
and some other word/words in a sentence. For example,
y The waiter put the plate on the table.
y The cat is hiding under the bed.
Ø A conjunction is used to join two words, groups of words or sentences.
For example,
y The chief guest gave a speech and gave away the prizes.
y I like coffee but my brother likes tea.
Ø An interjection is a word or a small group of words we use to strongly express an
emotion. We usually put an exclamation mark (!) after an interjection. For example,
y Ouch! That hurts.
y Hurray! We won the match.
y Oh no! It has started to rain yet again.
A. Read these sentences carefully. Mention the part of speech of the words in
each sentence.
