Let’s Play

                    Make a set of cards with yes/no and wh-questions. For example,
                      Do you play football?          Do you watch television?          Do you like to travel ?


                      What is your favourite          What did you have for               Do you eat a
                              colour?                    lunch yesterday?                balanced diet?

                          Where do your                  Do you visit your
                       grandparents stay?                 relatives often?

                    Now, get into pairs. Your partner will get one of these cards and ask you the
                    question. You will give the reply. Carry forward the conversation for ten minutes.
                    Now, change your partner. Tell the new partner about the conversation you had
                    with your previous partner. For example,

                    Suraj asked me if I play football. I told him that I do. Then, he asked me…
                    You can make engaging conversation with these conversation starters.

                     Shanti: ‘It is very sad that man has gone to the moon; he has made so many useful
                     gadgets that make life so much easier, but he is unable to remove poverty from
                     the world.’
                     Gouri: ‘I get your point. I personally feel that man is greedy and too selfish. Man
                     seems more interested in fame and money than in removing problems
                     like poverty.’


                     Shanti: ‘Good point! I totally agree with you on this. Come now, let’s go to the
                     canteen.’

                  D.  Change to direct speech.
                       1.  He asked me if I could solve that problem.

                       2.  I asked her whether she knew the way home.
                       3.  She said that she had seen him.

                       4.  He inquired whether I had booked tickets for the concert.

                       5.  Ranjan wanted to know if it is cold outside.
                       6.  He asked what time the train left.

                       7.  She asked him where I lived.

                       8.  Ira exclaimed how funny it was.
                       9.  She said that he hadn’t eaten breakfast.
