             The Present Perfect Tense


             We use the present perfect tense to talk about

             1.  an event/incident that took place in the recent past, with their results having an
                 effect on the present. For example,
                 •  I have forgotten my cell phone at home. I can’t make a call now!

             2.  an event that took place in the past whose exact timing is known. For example,
                 •  The music company has released a new album of devotional songs.

             3.  an event that began in the past but which continues up to the present.
                 For example,
                 •  I have known him since he was six years old.
