          excitement.

          Lajjo runs first to her mother.

          ‘It’s for a game I’m playing with Daadu,’ she says.

          ‘A game! Who has time for games when the whole

          village is thirsty?’

          Though he grumbles a little, he
          gives the tools to Lajjo.
