c. Why was the narrator concerned that Sumita would be hurt?

               d. What kind of relationship does the narrator share with Sumita? Do you think such

               b. Who had thrown ‘it’ away?

               c. Why did the person do so?

               d. Do you think throwing ‘it’ away was a good thing to do?

                                             Time to think and answer

          1. When Ajanta tells you that Sumita was one of her close friends, who did you think
Sumita was? Did you guess it right? If not, what do you think is the reason of your
               thoughts?

          2. ‘Sumita can never be your friend. After all, she is only a labourer’s daughter.’

Why do you think Ajanta’s mother said this line? Do you really think that the financial
stature of a person should matter while making friends? Give reasons for your answer.

          3. Ajanta and her parents have different views towards life. We call it the character’s point

of view. Now, choose an important instance from the story and use the boxes to describe
the event from the point of view of Ajanta and her parents. life skill critical thinking
