You are about to read the story of Dr Dolittle who lived in a little town of England called
Puddleby-on-the-Marsh. He was very fond of animals and he kept many kinds of pets.

And they made the house untidy and drove away his patients. As time went on, he got
more and more animals, and his patients became less and less. The only patient he had
was the Cat’s-meat-Man, who visited him once a year. Dr Dolittle became poorer and

poorer, but the animals of the town didn’t stop loving him.
