Muninder Shekhawat was a man who loved to travel, especially to places that had
strange and captivating stories as their claim to fame—haunted caves, deserted villages,
submerged cities or even lost ships. But this one was a complete surprise to him. You see,
it found him before he could find it.
It was an astounding experience, to say the least. He had heard about the shipwreck
while he was in Ahmedabad for a seminar and decided to spend some time at a local
museum. There he saw the poster. It said, ‘The Tragedy of the Lost Ship: Vijli’. It was
supposed to be a small discussion around the ‘Indian Titanic’ on the completion of its
128th anniversary. People were invited to join and know more about the disaster that had
struck the ship.
Finding his interest aroused by the phrase ‘Indian Titanic’,
Muninder decided to join the discussion. What could it mean? captivating: attracting
interest
Why had he never heard about it? How could it have escaped submerged: under water
him for so long? He was determined to find out everything the astounding: surprisingly
impressive
following night.
