              Kinds of Prepositions


              There are different kinds of prepositions. Let us study about them.

              Read these sentences.

                  y The children are in the hall.

                  y Are you going to school now?

                  y The town lies halfway between Delhi and Jaipur.
                  y I hung my coat behind the door.

                  y The cat is under the chair.
                  y Someone has parked his car in front of our gate.

                  y I put the table cloth over the table.
                  y The bell was hanging above the door.


              The highlighted prepositions show where something is located.




                         Prepositions that tell us about the position of things are called prepositions of place.
