Let us learn more about conjunctions.
Conjunctions like for, and, nor, but, or, yet and so help to join words, phrases or
sentences. For example,
y We have many dogs and cats. (connecting two words)
y You can go to the hills or to the beach. (connecting two phrases)
y It started raining, so we came back home. (connecting two sentences)
Conjunction Meaning Example
for because We went inside for it was raining.
and in addition to We bought pencils, pens and erasers.
nor and not Roby does not eat peas nor does he eat carrots.
but however I do not like pizza but I like pasta.
or alternative You can have rasmalai or ice cream.
yet but He was unwell, yet he went to school.
so therefore She went off to sleep, so we left.

You can remember these conjunctions by memorising the acronym FANBOYS:
For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So.
