Vocabulary
1 Alliteration
Alliteration is the repetition of the same consonant sound at the beginning of words
occurring together in a sentence, especially in poetry. For example,
y Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled
peppers, where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?
y Three grey geese in a green field grazing. Grey were the geese and green was
the grazing.
y Betty Botter bought some butter, but she said, this butter’s bitter; if I put it in
my batter, it will make my batter bitter, but a bit of better butter will make my
batter better.
Find six examples of alliteration in brand names or in the names of famous people.
For example,
y Mickey Mouse
y Donald Duck
y Ronald Reagan
