Read these sentences. Pay attention to the highlighted words.
y This is my book. This book is mine.
y That is your desk. That desk is yours.
y Those are his dogs. Those dogs are his.
y Those are her shoes. Those shoes are hers.
y That is our house. That house is ours.
y That is their garden. That garden is theirs.
The words mine, yours, his, hers, ours and theirs tell us what belongs to whom.
Pronouns that tell us what belongs to whom are called possessive pronouns.
C. Fill in the blanks with the correct possessive pronouns.
1. I have not yet found my missing bag. Have you found
(yours/your)?
2. This umbrella is (her/hers).
3. Those marbles are (his/him).
4. This bag is (my/mine) and the one on the table is
(your/yours).
