              Transitive and Intransitive Verbs

              These sentences have an object. An object is a person or thing that receives the action of
              the verbs.



                         Verbs that have objects are called transitive verbs.



              Now, read these sentences.


                  y She laughed aloud.

                  y The trees are moving in the breeze.

              These sentences do not have an object.




                         Verbs that do not have objects are called intransitive verbs.
