A preposition is a word that shows a relationship between a noun or a
                       pronoun and some other word in the sentence.



             A.  Fill in the blanks with suitable prepositions.


                  1.  My brother and sister are coming                      me to the party.
                  2.  He was hiding                   the table.


                  3.  I love to fly kites                my terrace.
                  4.  ‘Keep                  the grass,’ shouted the gardener.


                  5.  We have known each other                       childhood.

                  6.  We have studied together                     Class V.

                  7.  People always think that the grass                    the other side is greener.

                  8.  My father is part                  the team that has gone
                     a mission.

                  9.  The little boy jumped                   the bed and ran
                     his mother.

                 10.  An old lady was standing                     me; we were waiting
                     the queue.


             Kinds of Prepositions

             Let us study the different kinds of prepositions.
             1.  Prepositions of Time: These prepositions are used to indicate the time of
                 an action. The prepositions at, in, since, for, during and on can be used as
                 prepositions of time. For example,

                 •  I wake up at 6 o’clock every day.
                 •  My school reopens in July.
                 •  I have been waiting for him for two hours.
                 •  I have lived in Mayur Vihar since 2010.
                 •  You must finish this assignment within ten days.
                 •  Bears hibernate during winter.


             B.  Fill in the blanks with the correct prepositions of time.

                 1.  The teachers have a meeting               (at/in) 9 o’clock tomorrow morning.

                 2.  The restaurant closes             (at/on) midnight.
