                  Read the following sentences.

                  •  You should wake up early every morning. (giving a polite suggestion)
                  •   You must complete your homework before going out to play. (expressing
                     a necessity)

                  The highlighted verbs are called modal auxiliaries or modals.


                            Modals are a special group of verbs used to express ability, permission,
                            suggestion, possibility, intention, etc.
