♦ And (meaning in addition to)

♦ But (shows contrast)

♦ Or (shows choice, alternative or advice)
y Work hard or you’ll fail the exam. (advice)
y You can opt for science or commerce. (alternative)

♦ Nor (means and not)
y I am not fond of football nor cricket.
y I cannot meet you now nor later.
♦ Yet (means despite something)
y He is poor, yet honest.
y She earns a lot, yet she doesn’t seem to be happy.
♦ So (gives reason)
y He was hungry, so he ate up all the cake.
y The programme was cancelled, so I spent the day at home.
