Homonyms are words that have the same spelling and often sound alike but have
                  different meanings.

                  Homonyms are often the cause of spelling or word-use errors.

                  Here are some examples.


                          Word                                         Meanings

                    1. act                 to do something                     a scene from a play

                    2. bat                 used to play cricket                a mammal that flies

                    3. bear                an animal/to carry                  a burden/tolerate

                    4. bow                 a tied-up ribbon/to bend            a weapon
                                           respectfully

                    5. mine                my possession                       under the earth where there
                                                                               are minerals
