Kinds of Nouns
There are four kinds of nouns.
1. Proper noun is the name of a particular person, place, animal or thing.
For example, Ravi, New York, Snowy, Mac O’Donell burger.
2. Common noun is the name of any person, place, animal or thing in general.
For example, boy, place, animal, burger.
3. Collective noun is the name of a collection of people, animals or things.
For example, bunch, ream, gang, pride.
4. Abstract noun is the name of an idea or a feeling. For example, enthusiasm,
determination, sympathy, wisdom.
A. Use the collective nouns given in the box to complete these sentences.
