i.  Noun ↔ Adjective
                    For example,

                     •  Everyone knew that the old man was kind.
                        The old man was known for his kindness.
                     •  It was a very long snake.
                        It was a snake of unusual length.

                 ii.  Noun ↔ Verb
                    For example,

                     •  He realised too late that he was wrong.
                        The realisation that he was wrong came too late.
                     •  The fact that she refused to do the work shocked him.
                        Her refusal to do the work shocked him.

                 iii. Adjective ↔ Adverb
                    For example,

                     •  The snail moved slowly.
                        The snail moved at a slow pace.
                     •  The driver drove rashly.
                        The driver drove in a rash manner.

             2.  By changing the degree of comparison of an adjective or an adverb
                 For example,

                 •  The Nile is the longest river in the world.
                    The Nile is longer than all other rivers in the world.
                    None of the other rivers in the world are as long as the Nile.

             3.  By using antonyms and the negative particle ‘not’
                 For example,

                 •  Russia is a large country.
                    Russia is not a small country.
                 •  Friendship is something to cherish.
                    Friendship is not something to despise.


             A.  Transform these sentences by changing an appropriate word in each of them.
                 Some have more than one possible transformation.

                  1.  He sent them his letter accepting the post.

                  2.  Are there any paintings in the world more famous than the Mona Lisa?

                  3.  The plot of the film was weak, but the characters were strong.
