freedom. But merely to say that we should be free and so on has very little meaning
without understanding the whole problem of discipline.

The keen athlete is disciplining himself the whole time, isn’t he? His joy in playing
games and the very necessity to keep fit makes him go to bed early, refrain from
smoking, eat the right food and generally observe the rules of good health. His
discipline and punctuality is not an imposition but a natural outcome of his enjoyment
              of athletics.

                                                      The Précis

Discipline is one of the biggest problems in the world. Society feels that discipline
should be controlled to shape the mind of the citizen. Some want to be free to think
and do whatever they like. Even the keen athlete is disciplining himself the whole
time. He observes the rules of good health.

Now read this passage and write a précis on it.

To act without prior thinking will lead us into endless trouble. Elderly people often
say that haste always makes waste. Rushing into things without prior thinking
will lead to wastage of time, resource and energy. It is similar to jumping into a
river without knowing its depth and flow. It does not mean though that one should
delay in making decisions or avoid taking a stand. Rather, one should think twice
before taking a decision. Quick decisions are always welcome but not rash decisions.
Even if one has to act on impulse and has no time to think things through in an
emergency, then also one should use one’s presence of mind and do something. Quick
decision-making should be coupled with prudence and justice.
