You have learnt about the simple and the continuous tenses. Let’s revise them.
• Simple Present Tense: It expresses general truths, habits, repeated actions, and
scheduled events. For example,
♦ The cat plays with the mouse every day. (habit)
♦ Cats always hunt mice. (general truth)
• Simple Past Tense: It talks about completed actions in the past. For example,
♦ The cat ate up the fat. (completed action in the past)
• Simple Future Tense: It expresses actions or events that will happen in the future.
For example,
♦ We will eat the fat in winter. (future action)
• Present Continuous Tense: It describes ongoing actions happening in the present.
For example,
♦ The mouse is cleaning the house. (ongoing action in the present)
• Past Continuous Tense: It talks about ongoing actions that were happening in the past.
For example,
♦ The cat was attending the ceremony in the morning. (ongoing action in the past)
• Future Continuous Tense: It indicates ongoing actions that will happen at a specific
time in the future. For example,
♦ We will be working on the project tomorrow. (ongoing action in the future)
