Time to write
An essay is a short piece of writing which is based on a specific topic or subject. There are
different kinds of essays. We will take up persuasive essay here. In a persuasive essay, the writer
tries to convince the reader to accept their opinion or stance on a particular issue.

Here are the tips of writing a persuasive essay.

• Make sure that the central idea has two sides.

• Give strong supporting ideas and use examples to support them.
• State the counterclaims.

• Give examples and reasons to undermine the counterclaims.
• Speak directly to the reader (use ‘you’).

• Repeat the central idea to influence the reader’s way of thinking.
