                             Freedom

                                                                                                 Theme: Patriotism

               Time to start

What do you understand by freedom? Tick (3) the situations which depict

            freedom.

            1. You participated in a debate in class.

            2. You are alone at home for a day. You can do whatever you want.

            3. Your mother asked you to buy vegetables from the market.

            4. You are afraid to speak in the morning assembly.

            5. Your father encourages you to pursue a career in music.

          Now, read the poem.

Freedom from fear is the freedom

I claim for you my motherland!

Freedom from the burden of the ages, bending your head,

breaking your back, blinding your eyes to the beckoning

          call of the future;

Freedom from the shackles of slumber wherewith

you fasten yourself in night’s stillness,

mistrusting the star that speaks of truth’s adventurous paths; shackles: (here) something
                                                                                      that prevents you from doing
                                                                                      what you want to
freedom from the anarchy of destiny anarchy: a state of disorder
