Let’s learn to write
Mr Marshal D’Souza feels that events in history should be presented in new
and interesting ways so that the present generation is always connected to its
roots and is aware of its cultural heritage. Take a look at the letter he wrote to the
editor of a local daily, for the same.

Subject: Exhibitions and Similar Events for the Young Generation
Sir
This is in reference to the Grand Treasury Museum Tourist Club get-together
that we organised recently. I am writing today to bring your attention towards
such events, which I feel are important for our younger generation. I believe
that events in history should be presented to the present generation in new and
interesting ways and be made available for them so that they can learn from it.
The benefits are many. The children and youngsters would gain knowledge
about their rich cultural heritage, some of which they might not even be aware of.
Secondly, such knowledge would instil in them a pride in one’s past and would
definitely lead to a strong sense of identity. Lastly, if this is done through interesting
ways, they develop an interest and look at their past as a rich source of knowledge.
Therefore, I would recommend that all such doorways to knowledge such as the
museums, schools and even art galleries hold competitions, exhibitions, seminars
and talks that can attract the young generation and make history open to them in
a number of ways.
I hope that the publishing of this letter in the column of your esteemed daily
shall encourage organisations to take necessary steps.
Yours truly
Marshal D’Souza
