There are three kinds of verbs—action verbs, having verbs and being verbs.

              Action verbs

              Linking verbs

A linking verb is a type of state of being verb. A linking verb connects the subject
with a noun or an adjective that describes the subject. The noun or the adjective that
completes the meaning of a linking verb is called the subject complement. For example,

                             He looks hungry.

              Having verbs

The having verbs show possession or ownership. For example,

y My mother has a new car.

y They have a new car.
