The main verb shows the action in a sentence. For example,
y They will eat dinner at 9 o’clock.
y Grandma is telling a story.
y Suyash was swimming in the pool.
The helping verb comes before the main verb and shows the time
of the action.
y They will eat dinner at 9 o’clock. (simple future tense)
y Grandma is telling a story. (present continuous tense)
y Suyash was swimming in the pool. (past continuous tense)
Note
These are the forms of the helping verbs— be, do and have.
• Present: am, is, are, has, have, do, does
• Past: was, were, had, did
• Future: will be, will do, will have
