          When a sentence begins with a phrase, we use a comma. For example,

          •  For this, I travel extensively in rural areas.

          •  During my travels, I frequently stay in the houses of people I meet.
          •  In India, a guest is always treated with a lot of love, affection and respect.

          •  In 1998, I went to a village in South Canara for a school function.

          We also use commas after yes, no or a title in a sentence. For example,

          •  ‘Madam, the chairman of this school is a fine gentleman.’

          •  ‘No, unfortunately I did not go to school.’

          •  ‘Yes, I know this school.’

          •  ‘Amma, I have earned so much wealth.’

          Now, add commas wherever necessary.

          1.  Last Sunday we went to the zoo.

          2.  If you are ill you ought to see a doctor.

          3.  Mom I can’t find my shoes.

          4.  Well he meant no harm to you.

          5.  Yes the package should arrive tomorrow morning.

          6.  Sir may I visit the washroom?

          7.   During the assembly the Principal made an announcement.
          8.   Four years ago we went to Guwahati.
