An epic is a literary term that denotes a type of long, narrative poem (sometimes even novels),
celebrating heroic achievements and themes of cultural significance.

Whatever their place or century of origin, epics share common characteristics:

              • The most important characteristic of an epic poem is its length. Some famous epics have
12,000 to 15,000 lines! Early epics were oral compositions.

              • They relate to historic events which take place on a grand scale, often over a period of years.

              • They include a large cast of characters, but focus on the exploits of a central hero, who,
though a mortal, usually possesses superhuman abilities.

              • All epics invoke the supernatural, often through the direct intervention of the gods into
                   worldly affairs.

Now, prepare a presentation to show how the Ramayana fits under the literary genre

              of epic. cross-curricular ICT
