Kathy: She’ll look in the attic,

But she never will find it
Not all by herself.
Children: For secrets are secret,
As secrets can be.
You never can find them!
You must wait and see!

Poor, dear Betsy! (Children exit as they repeat the song.
When stage is clear, Betsy enters, tired out.)
Betsy: I’ve looked in all the bureau drawers,
And all the closets too,
But I can’t find my big surprise,
bureau drawers: small storage
So, I will now boo-hoo! spaces where you can keep
your clothes, toys, or other
(Wailing) Boo-hoo-hoo! things organised
closet: a little private room for
Boo-hoo-hoo! your clothes to hang up neatly
or be folded and put away
Boo-hoo-hoo! (As Betsy boo-hoos, four Fairies enter, boo-hoo: a sound people make
when they cry or feel sad
each with a wand.) wand: (in fantasies) a special,
magical stick that you can use
to perform magic
