Fairies: We are the Wait-and-See Fairies!

First Fairy: But you don’t understand!
Second Fairy: It’s fun to wait and see!
Fairies: It is fun to wait and see, wait and see, wait and see.
It is fun to wait and see, my dear Betsy.
Betsy: What’s fun about it? I can’t wait! I won’t wait! I hate to wait!
First Fairy: The longer you wait, the more you’ll be surprised.
Second Fairy: Waiting makes the fun last longer.
Third Fairy: It’s more exciting to wait. ashamed: to feel very bad and guilty
about something that happened
Fourth Fairy: Just think, if you didn’t have to wait, exciting: filled with thrill, happiness,
or full of energy
your surprise would be over by now. crowd around: to gather closely

Betsy: But the time seems so long. someone
First Fairy: That’s because you’re thinking about yourself.
Betsy: What else can I think about on my birthday?
Fairies: Let’s tell her. Let’s tell her the wait-and-see secret.
(Fairies crowd around Betsy and whisper in her ear.)

First Fairy: Will you try it, Betsy?
Betsy (Standing with hands behind her back
