          about and hide behind furniture while MRS BUTTON leaves stage and returns
          with cake. She places it on table’, and lights the candles.)


          Mr Button: Quick! Here she comes! (As Betsy enters with small cardboard box,
          Children jump out at her, crying ‘Surprise! Surprise!’)

          Children (Singing): Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you,

          found, Mrs Button speaks.)

          Mrs Button: The birthday party is from Daddy and me. And here is your cake!
