                                         Informal Letter

Informal letters are letters we write to our friends and family members. They are also
             called friendly letters.

There are fewer formatting rules for informal letters than there are for business or
formal letters. The letter can be used for some reasons like conveying a message,
news, giving advice, to congratulate the recipient, request for information, ask
questions, etc. It is a personal letter, written to somebody you are familiar with, like
friends, siblings, parents or anyone else you are close to. While writing an informal
letter, one can afford to be friendly and make use of a personal or emotional tone.

Here is the format of an informal letter.

               4 July 2020

               Dear Maya

I do hope you are doing well. Especially now that your exams are over and
done with! You have not written to me in a long time, so I thought I should
               write to you today.

How are Uncle Ranjit and Aunt Jaya doing? I do hope Aunt’s knee is better?
She is taking her medicines regularly, isn’t she? You must remind her to take
them if you see her forgetting them. How is little Tara? Isn’t she in Class 3
now? Quite a young lady that one!

Oh, do visit us—it will be so much fun. And, I miss you and Tara terribly. Do
let me know if you are planning a trip to Kolkata. Oh, I shall be so happy!

Hoping to hear from you soon.

               Your loving cousin

               Chandrima
