When you write a diary, you must remember these points:
                  •  Write in the first person. Make sure you mention both the day and the date.

                  •  Remember that it is not only a chronicle of events that have occurred, but also a
                     spontaneous expression of emotion.
                  •  Sometimes, the diary is given a name. Anne Frank called her diary ‘Kitty’.
                  •  Generally, a diary is meant for personal notes and therefore one should be frank
                     and honest.

                  •  Do not neglect the rules of grammar when it comes to diary writing.
                  •  Be careful about sentence construction, paragraphs, ornamentations in language,
                     etc. You can use a wide range of tenses.

                  Writing assignments

                  1.  Your school is closed for a week after the Annual Examinations. Write a diary
                     entry for each day of the week describing what you did and how you kept
                     yourself busy.

                  2.  You were taken on a camp to the middle of a forest by the Scouts/Guides team. In
                     the form of a diary, narrate how you spent your days (at least seven) in the forest.

                  3.  Your best friend did something dishonest. You always considered him to be a
                     true friend, very dignified and honest. Express your conflicting emotions in a
                     diary entry.

                  4.  You came across the story of a four-year-old girl who is fighting a deadly disease
                     in the city hospital. The news disturbs you. You decide to write your feelings in
                     your diary. Write the diary entry.
