When you write a diary, you must remember these points:
• Write in the first person. Make sure you mention both the day and the date.
• Remember that it is not only a chronicle of events that have occurred, but also a
spontaneous expression of emotion.
• Sometimes, the diary is given a name. Anne Frank called her diary ‘Kitty’.
• Generally, a diary is meant for personal notes and therefore one should be frank
and honest.
• Do not neglect the rules of grammar when it comes to diary writing.
• Be careful about sentence construction, paragraphs, ornamentations in language,
etc. You can use a wide range of tenses.
