8 Writing an Email
An email is a letter sent or received via the Internet. It is similar to a postal letter but
it is very fast and is usually free.
However, in order to be able to send/receive an email, one needs:
• a computer
• an internet connection
• an email address, also popularly called an ‘email id’
• the email address of the person to whom the email is being sent.
Now, let us see what an email looks like:
[email protected]
Hello!
Hi Anshula
How are you doing? What are your plans for the summer vacation? I am
going to Chakori with my parents. It is a small village in Uttarakhand. It
sees snow in the summer sometimes, especially when it rains. I am hoping
it will snow when I am there!
We have rented a tiny house in Chakori and we are leaving for our summer
house on the 3rd of May, as soon as the vacation begins.
Do let me know what your plans are.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Aisha
