Diary Writing
Diaries are ideal ways to keep track of your past and think about your future plans. You
can ‘tell’ a diary all that you cannot ‘tell’ anyone else. You can make predictions about
what will happen and see if they come true. You can also observe how you changed over
time, and refresh your memory and have a few laughs. Anyone can write a diary!
This is the format of a diary entry.

Dear Diary salutation
I’m so upset!! I don’t even know where to begin!
To start off, I think I did not fare well in the geometry quiz, which I know
I should’ve studied more for.... Dad’s not going to be happy about that.
Then, we had a history quiz on the reading homework given yesterday. I
completely forgot most of what I had read, which made me even more
upset, because I actually did the reading! But what really made me angry
was the note that Jahnvi slipped into my locker. She said she was sad that
I’ve been spending a lot of time with Tina lately and thinks that I don’t
want to be her friend anymore. I can’t believe she thinks that, especially
after I spoke to her on the phone so many times last month. Just because
I’ve been chatting with Tina a little more than usual doesn’t mean I’m not
her friend anymore. She completely ticked me off at lunch, and when I told
Tina, she thought that Jahnvi was being too ‘sentimental’!
This is just what I need! My parents are going on and on about doing more
extracurricular activities, I have a tough assignment due soon and I can’t
understand a thing in French! The last thing I need is for my best friend to
think I don’t like her and barely talk to her anymore.
I can’t concentrate on anything right now because of it. I hope she gets
over it!!!
Love
